Justice Donohue to Speak at Indiana Democratic Festival

Justice Christine Donohue will be the featured speaker at the Indiana County Democratic Committee’s Fall Freedom Festival. The Festival will be held at the IUP Cooperative College Lodge on Saturday, October 18, starting at 1:00 p.m. following the No Kings Rally, which starts at 11:00 a.m. at IRMC Park, downtown Indiana.
Justice Donohue serves on the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania who, along with Justices Dougherty and Wecht, are seeking a retention vote to continue their highly successful accomplishments. Immediately prior to her service as a Supreme Court Justice, Donohue served on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania for eight years.
Born in Schuylkill County with a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University, she received her Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law and now resides in Pittsburgh.
As a lawyer, Donohue was a civil trial lawyer and litigator for 27 years. She is an elected Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, International Academy of Trial Lawyers, Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. She is a past president of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.
Justice Donohue is a former judge on the Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline, a former chair and member of the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners and the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board, and a former member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
She is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations, has served with several legal organizations prior to her election on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and is the recipient of numerous prestigious professional and service awards.
Included in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's many notable accomplishments in recent years are significant decisions regarding voting rights, reproductive rights, environmental protections, and workers' rights.
Justice Donohue has taught ethics for attorneys at the Duquesne University School of Law and has served as a board member of the Hill House Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, Turtle Creek Valley Mental Health/Mental Retardation, Inc. and the National Aviary of Pittsburgh.
The Fall Freedom Festival is a family-friendly event that will include classic picnic fair and a variety of activities to watch or join.
