Eugene DePasquale, chair of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and former two-term Pennsylvania Auditor General, will be the featured guest at this year’s Indiana County Democratic Committee (ICDC) Annual Picnic. The picnic will be held at Blue Spruce Park, Earnest, on Saturday, August 22.
As Auditor General, DePasquale exposed wasted tax dollars and unanswered child abuse hotline calls, reduced the backlog in untested rape kits, and revealed problems with Pennsylvania’s Charter School Law.
Prior to his tenure as Auditor General, DePasquale was a three-term member of the state General Assembly, representing the 95th state house district centered in York, PA. In the Legislature, DePasquale passed the largest alternative energy legislation in state history, won large increases in public school investments, and made it a priority to curtail distracted driving.
DePasquale lived in central Pennsylvania for 25 years before moving back to the his native Pittsburgh. He holds a BA from The College of Wooster in Ohio, an MPA from the University of Pittsburgh, and a JD from Widener University School of Law. In addition to his work with PADems, he is an adjunct professor and serves as a consultant for several organizations. He competes in CrossFit and Spartan Race competitions as well as other endurance events.Â
DePasquale will be joined by several state and U.S. candidates running for office this November.
In addition to a picnic meal, attendees will be able to bid on silent auction items organized by the Indiana County chapter of the Federation of Democratic Women. Always popular, the ICDC will also run the Fifth Annual Great Democratic Pie Auction.
Tickets are $25 a person and are available on the ICDC website at indianapadems.com. You can also send your check, no later than Friday, August 14, to ICDC, P.O. Box 315, Indiana, PA 15701; or email lgmitchell68@gmail.com to make a reservation.
