PA House Speaker to Keynote Banquet
Pennsylvania Speaker of the House, Joanna McClinton, will keynote the Annual Indiana County Democratic Banquet. The event is slated for Friday, October 16, at the Chestnut Inn Resort in Blairsville, starting at 6:00 p.m. with tickets required in advance.
Representing Pennsylvania’s 191st Legislative District since 2015 and in 2018, McClinton became the first woman and first African-American to be elected as the House Democratic Caucus Chair. Then, in 2020, McClinton became the first woman elected as House Democratic Leader in the 244-year history of the oldest legislative body in the country. And in 2023, she became the first woman to serve as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
A lifelong resident of southwest Philadelphia and a graduate of Grace Temple Christian Academy, McClinton went on to study political science and leadership in global understanding at La Salle University. She then enrolled in the Villanova University School of Law and seized opportunities to put her legal training to work for her community.
Speaker McClinton will be joined by Alan Bradstock, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in PA’s 14th District; Trajan Jones, candidate for the Pennsylvania State House in the 62nd District; and Lisa Gourley, candidate for the Pennsylvania State House in the 66th District.
The evening includes an elegant buffet at a cost of $45 per person. Tickets, only available in advance, can be purchased through the ICDC website at IndianaPaDems.com.
